GMC and Chevy Towing Equipment: Improve Capabilities

GMC and Chevy towing equipment

If you want to improve your Chevy or GMC truck, there is a wide variety of GMC and Chevy towing equipment — from brake controllers to hitches. A number of accessories can improve performance and capability. These are just some of the many accessories you should consider getting if you need to tow and haul in the future.

Some of the most popular equipment includes brake controllers and hitches. A brake controller mounts to the dash area and can delay or moderate the trailer’s electrical braking system. Gale Banks Engineering offers a popular Brake Tuner device, while Tekonsha® has a much more affordable brake controller.

In terms of hitches, there are many options to choose from. Go with something that is durable, flexible, and stays connected to the chassis. CURT trailer hitches are among the top on the market, including the Curt Double Lock hitches. Go Rhino® and Trimax™ hitches come in handy as well, but we strongly encourage using Chevy or GMC hitches.

If you need fifth-wheel accessories, CURT and B&W offer great bang for your buck with high-quality fifth-wheel accessories. For instance, the A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch with a GM Puck System costs around $1200, but it will allow you to tow heavy loads like campers.

Two Birds with One Stone: 2019 Resolutions for You and Your Car

2019 Resolutions for You and Your Car

It is easy to set goals at this time of year, but keeping them throughout the year can be a different story. Stick with a resolution that is not only manageable, but will benefit both you and your vehicle. If you want to drive with confidence this year, here are some 2019 resolutions for you and your car.

Eyes on the Road

Distracted driving is not only a something to avoid for your teenager, but for you as well. Vow to keep your devices on silent and your radio down as you stay focused on the road ahead. If you are driving with your family, store your smartphone in the trunk during the next drive. This will serve as a positive example for them to follow as you practice safe driving.

The Dreaded “E”

Running your vehicle on empty is a dangerous game to play. Fill up before your gas light alerts you so you can avoid getting stuck on the side of the road. Consider filling up when your gas gauge hits the halfway mark. This practice is especially useful in colder temperatures and ensures your car will run well by starting up faster and getting you on your way. In the long run, this will benefit your car, wallet, and peace of mind.

Chevrolet Celebrates the COPO Camaro 50th Year Anniversary

2019 COPO Camaro 50th Year Anniversary

In honor of the COPO Camaro 50th Year Anniversary, we wanted to take a look back when it was first produced and discuss what Chevrolet is doing to commemorate this milestone.

In 1969, Chevy dealer Fred Gibb found a way to use the company’s special ordering system ―  the Central Office Production Order ― to add the ZL1 427 racing engine to the Camaro. After a lot of cajoling, he convinced Chevrolet to do so.

However, there was one problem. For the engine to be eligible for NHRA races, there had to be 50 units available for public sale. Gibb took the plunge and ordered all 50 himself. Eventually, other dealers followed suit, and a total of 69 COPO Camaros were produced that year.

To celebrate  the COPO Camaro 50th Year Anniversary, Chevrolet is releasing a special model called the 2019 COPO Camaro 50th Anniversary Special Edition. This unique model will come in Blue Metallic color similar to the Laguna Blue offered on the original models. It will also be available with the naturally aspirated LSX-based 427 racing engine.

Chevy will produce 69 exclusive models, which is the same amount that were produced in 1969. Customers can sign up for the chance to purchase one of these models online.

While the odds of getting a 50th Year anniversary COPO Camaro on our lot are not in our favor, the horsepower of the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro will put a smile on your face. Stop in and test drive it at Hight Chevrolet.

In Celebrating EV Vehicles, Volkswagen Ends Up Advertising the Chevy Bolt

Chevy Bolt

As an automaker routinely named at the forefront of German engineering and manufacturing, Volkswagen is looking to the future with electric vehicle technology. To help raise awareness and enthusiasm around vehicle electrification, Volkswagen has launched an advertising campaign highlighting innovative electric vehicles that are pioneering the EV industry. Interestingly, as a result of the campaign, Volkswagen is spending millions advertising the Chevy Bolt EV.

In America, Volkswagen has established  a subsidiary titled “Electrify America,” which aims to establish a strong foundation in the states for vehicle electrification and “will invest $2 billion in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure and education programs in the United States.” To get Americans interested in electric vehicles, Electrify America has launched a $45-million campaign, which heavily features the Chevrolet Bolt EV. While the Bolt EV is shown on screen, the commercial declares, “With instant acceleration, electric cars are more fun to drive – and more affordable – than ever.”

It’s easy to see why the Chevy Bolt EV is so appealing to contemporary drivers. Its crossover styling perfectly fits with modern design trends and makes it easily maneuvered around cities, and its ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds makes for an exhilarating ride. Electrify America could potentially help drive EV sales and raise worthy vehicles – like the Chevy Bolt EV – to prominence in the states.

Welcome to the Hight Chevrolet Buick GMC Blog

Hight Chevrolet Buick GMC

There aren’t many automotive dealerships that have been serving their communities for more than a century, but Hight Chevrolet Buick GMC is an exception. In business since 1911, the Hight family still aims to provide the best service and quality vehicles to the area. Now, we’d like to thank the community, and welcome you to the Hight Chevrolet Buick GMC blog!

Walter Hight started out selling potatoes, hay, straw, and hemlock bark. In 1911, he started selling Fords and kicked off what would become a family legacy. At the time, Ford vehicles came disassembled, six in a box car.

Soon after, Hight moved to selling Buicks produced and driven straight from the production line. It was at this point that he came up with the Hight tradition: “You put us first in sales, we put you first in service.”

Walter’s toughest obstacle to creating a successful dealership was converting people from horse and buggies to motor vehicles. To do this, he made sure every vehicle came with a personal driving lesson. Vehicles didn’t come with a large manual, so customers had to trust the salesman to teach them everything about the vehicle.

Now in its fourth generation, the Hight family continues to run the central Maine dealership. Our sales team remains vigilant to provide unbeatable dedication to the customer. Stop in to see just how we treat each and every customer that comes through the door.
